"A Reason to Believe" Vox Tonelab ST w wah - digging in.

I have had the unit for a bit and now I'm starting to make some patches including the wah wah patch I used in the bridge. I don't own a wah so I just went by ear as to what worked for the song when I made the patch. I used a Dean Markley guitar, AD and Battery drums and a AT2020 on the vocals.

I can't seem to get into that site. When I try to sig in, even after registering as a fan, it keeps going back to the sign-in page.

It's great, Robert! The wah tones are killer! What are you using for keys?

Thank you Lazarus1140, glad it sounds good to you. I don't know much about wah wahs.

I use two main synths the Predator for Bass and basic electronica stuff and the u-he Zebra for atmospheric pads and arps - it does those great.

I also use the ex24 in Logic for real strings and piano when I have those in a song.

Wow! You hit the "hit" button again Rob! This sounds awesome! The Guitar tone is fat and strong! The concept is awesome. I don't like the lyrics but that's a minor point for me. I like the song! It's just awesome!

Re: "A Reason to Believe" Vox Tonelab ST w wah - digging in.

LOL who needs lyrics anyhow! They just get in the way of the guitars. :)
I like what Brian Eno said, as long as they don't ruin the song it's cool - or something like that.

I'm starting to like the Vox ST, if I had a better guitar (read pups as in Seymour Duncans) I think it would really sound great.

Thanks so much BBQ, if I could find a million more like you and Lazarus I'd be good.

The vocals are just OK, kinda conventional, but the song itself kicks ass. The guitars are very, very cool. Really nice wah in the middle, and I like how the song drops down a bit after that part.

This could be on a nine inch nails album. I dig.

Sounds great, the vocals could be a little more laid back, don't try and force the pitch maybe. You should check out Ultravox if you've never listened to them.

I like it

Thanks for the listen and crit PUH and Wattage. I'll have to give the vocals some thought - it's always hard producing your own material especially vocals as I can't be objective.

Glad you guys liked it though. :)

* I use to be a big Ultravox fan!

Cool I hear a little bit of the UV sound in there.

I am really digging this tune, man. I still say it needs a singer with more anger or edge—Trent Reznor-esque—but it's a great tune! If this came on the radio, I wouldn't turn the dial, and I'd look up the artist on Wiki as soon as I got to a computer.

Thanks man I appreciate it! That's a nice complement. I'm older than Trent and even he can't pull off the angry young man vibe anymore imo. :) I personally think that singing style needs to stop at 40.

Ha! Yeah, you're right. Since Ghosts, which is an instrumental album, I think his best album is The Downward Spiral—and that's over 15 years old.

I really like NIN but they haven't evolved - I don't think. He sings the same song today that he sang on Pretty Hate Machines. By that I mean he's writing and singing the same thing.
