Super good deal on a Les Paul.

But as a caveat there are plenty of alternatives that give the same if not better fit and finish for less money.

Ibanez ART series, LTD EC series, PRS SE 245, to name a few.

You're all so focused on chambering and fretboard that you're overlooking the real critical factor:

Dark back

They don't stain them black because they're beautiful, one piece, rings-like-a-bell mahogany

I wouldn't care if my guitar was made of 750 pieces if it sounded good.

I'm going with probability here, though. In my experience, 1 piece bodies sound amazing / religious, 2 piece bodies sound and feel good-to-great, and more than 2 piece bodies sound and feel "just OK."

Of course fender had some 4 piece bodies at one point. They were painted solid colors as well to hide the ugliness. Not sure if they're worth much, since they were mostly made in the 50's. probably not too collectible.

EC-1000. Hands down. EC-407 if you want a 7 string. Solid, *solid* guitars.

The dark back almost kills it for me. Almost. I've never considered a gibby, but this looks so close to my dad's gold top that I'd buy it at that price on principle alone, and know that it would sound plenty decent, if not excellent.

I've also noticed this generally speaking. It's one of those rules that almost always applies, like "you get what you pay for".

With that said, these look to be great bang for buck. I'd feel tempted to buy one just to I could beat the **** out of it at bar gigs and not care. But I do that with any guitar to start with.

Seriously though, fretboard and construction don't matter to me as long as sound and feel are right. I'd hit it. Hard.

I'm not a real Gibson fan (there are plenty of other LP style guitars that are better quality and half to one forth the price), but that's still a very good deal. If you don't like the "faded" un-finish, it's not a big deal to spray a couple coats of gloss on it and polish it to a mirror finish.

Being a Studio, you don't have to worry about the crappy neck binding that Gibson does on its more "expensive" models.

Funny thing about Gibson LPs.....you buy the cheaper ones and you get a better playing guitar. IMO, Studios are your best buy.

Chambered LP's are fricken amazing. I absolutely love mine. It sits by my couch, and I play it every day.

From a group of so called tone freaks, there sure are very few that like chambered LP's. I wonder if many have played one?

You can't fix the finish on these things without doing wood filling.

Sure you could bring up paint coats until you can gloss polish them, but then it's still gloss with holes.

The goldtops are ok with polishing.....the stained colours less so.

Every day of my life I like to walk around saying to myself, "I can't afford a Les Paul. I can't afford a Les Paul."

But the truth is, I can't afford the Paul that I want. Big difference.

This might be a blessing in disguise, an american made guitar for the price of a import. think about it. you're putting food on your neighbors table, well there's that and im sure the people making are being paid a decent wage, just say'n.

I have one of those in Honeyburst and it is much nicer in playability and feel than any of the other Gibson LPs I have had.
