A sweet uncovered neck pickup for my tele?

Depends on what you mean by “sweet”. But I usually think of low output and alnico 2 when I think of sweet sounding pickups. The Alnico 2 Pro might be what you’re looking for.

Of course, depending on your bridge pickup, a neck humbucker might be too loud. In fact, finding a neck humbucker to balance with a bridge single coil can be tough in general. Just keep that in mind if you’ve never tried it before.

Antiquity neck is clear and sweet. Also, pretty low output for a humbucker if you're trying match with a tele bridge. Just takes a couple minutes with a soldering iron to pull the cover off.

Any of the Antiquities are quite sweet. I would 2nd the Ant Humbucker. Or the Antiquity Tele and remove the cover. I love mini hums, but I don't know if they stay together without the cover.

One of the ant teles for sure then.

They sound really nice. The Ant 2 with A5 poles has more of a shimmer:

The Ant and Ant 55s have a smokier sound. The Ant with A2 sounds the oldest and the Ant 55 with A5 still sounds weathered but crisper. I miss guitar. :2:

You can always remove the cover from a Tele neck pickup if you want the uncovered look. I have done it myself with a hair dryer and some pickup coil tape. Just heat up the cover and slide it off. Then melt the rest of the wax off and wrap the coils with pickup tape. Just be careful not to gouge or rip the coils when removing the cover or the pickup is kaput!
