A Telecaster is the ONLY electric guitar you need

Re: A Telecaster is the ONLY electric guitar you need

Personally; I dig Teles and have had few. They're no just one trick ponies and you can build 'em out equipped just like any other guitar. ;)

I could see myself with some modified Tele. But when does it cease to be a Tele? Is a Wolfgang a Tele-alike? Does Steve Morse's Tele qualify?

Re: A Telecaster is the ONLY electric guitar you need

In my humble opinion; a "Tele" is a particular shape of guitar body...nothing more...there has been just about any and every variation of a theme that you can imagine with a Tele since 1951...heck...it started out with a Snakehead and one pickup guitar and evolved to Kramer putting an OFR as well as an angled humbucker in the bridge on theirs. Fender's Custom Shop is pumping out plenty of $3.5k-$6.5K Teles of all varieties - so it really never stops being a Tele based upon components as long as it has the classic Tele shape.

Suprised no one has mentioned the Parker P-36, I almost bought one a few years back.

Those were pretty cool; I also almost picked one up at my local Music Go Round.

Now those are some RIGHTEOUS Teles I could be very happy with.

When I said Tele, I meant Tele. Not a Kramer Superstrat shaped like a Tele.

Stop trying to push the envelope. It's weak.

You can't do it at all.

Not loud enough, you say? Strum harder you pussy.

Re: A Telecaster is the ONLY electric guitar you need

Don't care who you are or what you do, a Tele is simply the only tool you need to do it.

I'm sayin' if you can't do it with this

You just can't do it.
I'm gonna agree. UNLESS. I'm trying to play jazz standards- Then only an L-5 or archtop will do.

As Hobbes once said: "What fun is it being 'cool' if you can't wear a sombrero?"

Re: A Telecaster is the ONLY electric guitar you need

Well, now that we are here on page 6, I guess full disclosure is in order. I have owned only one telecaster in my life, and it was only around a few years. Samick/Valley Arts Ray Benson:

A sweet ride, but hardly basic...

So, yeah, y'all have been rolled, patrolled, trolled, and extolled! Great Tele thread, but I do not have a dog in this hunt.
