A thicker and slightly hotter demon?

Changed hex poles made it sound better less harsh but would like a bit more thickness/guts and slightly hotter.

Not so much hi mids as jb. Slightly less output than PATB-1 and not as much treble taken off.

Thanks

Re: A thicker and slightly hotter demon?

Let the pole screws go exactly like the curve of your strings (exception b string) and raise up the pup a far as possible. Hope that helps
BTW anyone tried a A2 or A3 in a Demon??

Re: A thicker and slightly hotter demon?

Now why would anyone want to change a pickup as perfect as the Screamin' Demon? :D

Installing screw poles in lieu of the hex poles is a fairly common modification done to the Demon.

Not yet, but I'll let you know how an A2 Demon sounds on Tuesday. ;)

Yeah sounds a good idea.

I think i've found a better home for my demon in my 96' dean ml w/floyd, its seems a bit more at home than in my lp classic.

Just thinking for next purchases really

CC, bbq humbucker and maybe even a PG is interesting me. I use fairly bright amps so ceramics tend to sound too shrill. Worse pickup in my rig ever was the stock gibson 500t in the classic lp. awful!!

I remember a friend had a full shred in his ibanez rg a few years back it seemed a bit thin, but memory is a funny thing esp with tones. Obviously pickups response vary in guitar to guitar. Gonna take another listen to samples.

like bridge

tele lil 59 in my (twang and thump in tele YEAH!!!!)
jb with 250k pots good but still would like to thicken it up
patb (little too middy not far off though)

so so norton bridge

hate bridge

emg 81 Too much for me TREBLE UGGGHH (though its great for full on metal tones, not quite me however)
gibson 500t COMPRESSION OTT WAY TOO MUCH BASS 1 trick pony

Re: A thicker and slightly hotter demon?

I've been thinking about this to for the last couple days. I'd like to have a demon that has little push to it w/ just tad less highs, but keep the percussive low end and growl.

Re: A thicker and slightly hotter demon?

Dont think the full shred would be what im after,

i'm ok with wiring but not sure about doing the 59/custom hybrid operation (lol) myself. Seems a good idea however.

WILL THIS SEARCH FOR ULTIMATE BRIDGE POSITION TONE EVER END ARRRRGGGGHHHHH

Its a shame i cant say, well i like how this responds and dont like certain features of this etc, now what would be the perfect wind/manget for me y'know.

I do love the old van halen fair warning era tones chunky/fat, airy but no fizz and plenty of punch. Tres hombres tones zz top are cool too, that leads me a2 magnets i guess?

if it ever did, this'd be one crap pickup forum :cool2:

Re: A thicker and slightly hotter demon?

There used to be someone in these forums who had great succes with an A2 Demon. His clips sounded very warm yet punchy.

Alnico 8 ?

I ordered two A8's from blackrose. Haven't installed them yet, but damn are they strong! It's actually difficult prying them apart. Gonna throw one in a breed and see what happens.

If it adds some low mids and leaves the highs and lows pretty much the same it should kick @ss.

Re: A thicker and slightly hotter demon?

Fritz , I wouldn't put alnico 8 in a bassy-middy pickup like the Breed , it would be even darker !

I hear ya. But my axe is a maple body/maple kramer neck with a kahler flatmount & 250k pots. And unfortunately there is a CANYON of wood missing from underneath the bridge.

Was thinking of filling the hole with a block of mahogany and rerouting for the bridge. Then I heard bout the A8 and figured I'd throw that in there, cause I really don't have the woodworking chops to do a neat job.

Don't get me wrong the breed sounds awesome in my strat, it's an incredibly powerful bucker. Just like to add a bit of low mids and keep the rest.

El Diablo?
that is what you are looking for the EL DIABLO , years ago i asked MJ this question about a demon with more push and a little less highs and the same thump of the demon and she said to try an EL DIABLO and i got one , and loved the hell out of it and i need to get one in zebra for another guitar it's 14.5K alinco V magnet and 5.5K resonent peak. i had it in a super strat with both male and rosewood necks and adler bodies and it was awesome

Re: A thicker and slightly hotter demon?

That's the problem with the Demon in my Gothic SG. Not enough push. And it could be a little thicker. I looked into an El Diablo, but for the price I think I'm gonna settle with a Custom.
