A very interesting gear interview with Steve Stevens

Re: A very interesting gear interview with Steve Stevens

We just got the official notification a few months ago. And that catalog was actually printed in June or July.

Now that is pure class by Steve to do that. That shows how much respect he has for Seymour and Company.

Nice guitar he's playing in the photo of him playing live w/ Billy. An orange Music Man.

Steve is a monster player and has monster tone...no matter what pickups hes usin! :D

That part where the power chords kick in on "eyes without a face" is one of my fave guitar tones ever..classic Marshall crunchy goodness..

I wholeheartedly agree! It sounds great on the cd but on the Storytellers dvd it is a tone to freakin' die for.

One of the deal points with being a Seymour Duncan artist is that it's an exclusive endorsement. That means that the artist can not endorse any other pickup company.

...we removed him from our artist list.

He also said that he... plans to continue using them -- though no longer as an officially endorsed artist.

Maybe i am just a business n00b, but what is the problem with keeping him on the artist list? I mean, if he is STILL using SD pickups, one would think it would be to Seymour Duncan's advantage to have as many artists listed as possible...

Unless you PAY to have him on that list... then i can understand it.

Re: A very interesting gear interview with Steve Stevens

We don't pay endorsers to put them on the artist list. However, their endorsement agreement includes a "name and likeness" clause. Without the agreement, no name and likeness. Therefore we take their name off the list.

Re: A very interesting gear interview with Steve Stevens

User endorsements are always cool but they come and go. In the case of the major players like Duncan I wonder how important they really are? Would I rather have an unendorsed Satriani playing a Duncan front and center in his DVD or several endorsed users who aren't terribly well known?

I bet that REALLY chapped Dimarzio's ass...........:)
