That's a fantastic looking guitar and right up your alley weight wise. Congrats on the new fiddle. I'm a huge fan of anything Wild Cherry, so having a guitar made from it is cool as hell. I like builders/companies that look to alternative tone woods, as good mahogany gets scarcer every year. I wonder what Wild Cherry looks like in a more translucent or stained finish? I have no clue what the grain looks like. I guess google will be my friend again.

Beauty! Same as mine except I have the Godin pickups and vintage style tuning machines. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine.

Did you get a case or just the nice Godin gigbag? I bought the Tric Case for mine. Didn't want to but it was the only case that was made to fit the guitar. It's bulky but light, fits like a glove and offers excellent protection. But they are more like thick foam cases with a canvas cover, not a hard shell.

Nice! Godin makes great stuff. Glad to see them get some more attention on here.

Darg1911- Tric cases are amazing, and no longer ugly once they started covering them. Super light and SUPER protective.

Well, it came in a gig bag, but I also got the nice TRIC case as well. It was ordered with the TRIC, but I was surprised to see the gig bag, too.

You know, I know they use the Jazz and Custom Custom...and hey, I reported on that! But the neck pickup is warmer than the typical Jazz, and the bridge doesn't sound as strong as a Custom Custom. I know these pickups well, as they are some of my favorites, But the wood might be an issue in changing the sound, who knows. When it is time to change strings, I will look at the pickups. I had a Seth Set on my desk waiting for this guitar, but I was surprised to see the Duncans (it comes stock with Godin-branded pickups). And these Duncans sound great. They just don't sound much like a Jazz and CC. Who knows?

I spent yesterday putting some strap locks on (stock Godin buttons are the same size as Schaller strap lock buttons). I realized a few things: The center block is not solid- it has arches carved out of it like a Roman aqueduct. Also, the bridge strap button is on a machine screw with metal insert.

Yeah, that "breath-thru" center block is really cool despite not being able to see it (without looking for it through the f-holes). :approve:

Yeah! I have a dental mirror with a light on it that I got to rewire semi hollows. That center block probably cuts down a few ounces of weight and gives it more of a hollow sound.

That's a beauty guitar and it's in BLACK! Godin sure has a great reputation for making great guitars at an affordable price. Their choice of woods are very high quality. Hope you enjoy your new axe Mincer.:)

Are you sure they're Duncan? The Premiere HB, the one you've got, it's listed with "2x Custom Godin humbucker pickups". However, looking at the published pictures on the site, all covered p'ups are branded either Seymour Duncan or Godin; but yours are not? Interesting...

OTOH, the Premiere Supreme, it is listed with the Jazz/Custom Custom set.

Kudos on the new axe. Seems to be a pretty sweet one!

I just looked at the labels on the pickups. The neck is a Jazz, the bridge is a '59. Interesting combo. It sounds pretty good, especially with some mids boosted in the amp. I still might try out the Seth Lovers on my desk, though.

I've been interested in the Jazz/59 setup. I'm curious as to how they are in that guitar in more detail.

Well, I don't have much to compare them to, actually. They sound very open, with very little mids, which is their profile, anyway. If I try some Seth Lovers in there, I will at least have a comparison. The Jazz/59 set sounds great so far, but I will still probably try the Seths. I am going for a very traditional jazz or fusiony sound, so we will see what happens.

You know, one of the reasons a NGD is so rare for me is that I get really attached to instruments, and I am very picky about the instruments I use. I hate switching guitars, and I am not a collector. I have a small batch (5? 6?) instruments that I use, and this Godin is the first one I bought to get a specific sound, which is that semi-hollow thing. That 'thump' is the sound I can't get from my other guitars.

Would love to hear a clip before you put Seth's in it...Godin must have been after something considering the unusual combination of pickups the chose for it.
