A WTF Pawn shop carnage guitar.

Re: A WTF Pawn shop carnage guitar.

Cheapo refret? Unfortunate choice of fretboard cleaning product that reacts with copper alloys?

No refret and no evidence of any cleaning EVER so--. Rest of the guitar is pretty pristine no finish issues chips scratches dings nothing and all the hardware is clean just the corroded frets.

Re: A WTF Pawn shop carnage guitar.

That's easily fixed with a screw driver and about 2minutes or less of work (in a lot of cases). All you do is loosen the screws put the guitar on the bench/floor with a rag or whatever under body and headstock and push down on the horn with the headstock on the ground until the dot/strings is centered hold it there and tighten it in place.

I was thinking about the position marker, which appears to have been spray painted on, over top of the string. I can’t see very much because the photo is somewhat indistinct at that level.

Re: A WTF Pawn shop carnage guitar.

When I was still pretty new to guitar I got my hands on an Ibanez PF300. It was by far the nicest guitar I had owned. I spent an hour or two cleaning and polishing it like a jewel. Last thing I did was buff the frets until they gleamed. I then put a very light coat of 3-in-1 oil on each fret to preserve them, strung it up, put the guitar in the case and went to bed. The next day the frets were all dull and corroded! Not crusty like that, but we are talking less than 24 hours.

That's nicely done, quite presentable. I wonder how long it will last, though. Months? Weeks? Days?
As you say, you can polish it, but it still is what it is.

Will be intersting to see. This one was a real pita as steel wool did not faze that mess on the frets. Took a dremel at high speed with a cloth wheel and polishing compound to get this one cleaned up. We shall see if it stays clean BTW this one is a Korean build. Guitar plays looks and sounds good now but----.
