A3 59 HB in a Tele Bridge with STR-1 neck, any opinion?

Hi,

In my Tele I have an HB sized bridge, I'd like to try an A3 mag in a 59, mantaining the STR-1 I have and the 250Kpot.

In the past (years ago actually) I remember I liked a JB in bridge position but the balance of the guitar was compromsed, since then I put a standard 59 but never liked so much, too spikey, and I put that guitar in a corner for long time, I'd like to revive it.

My aim is to get a much fuller sound than stock tele single but with similiar carachteristics, more like the JB, with its odd mid curve, with a volume level comparable to the neck SC.

Any opinion about?
thx

That might achieve your goal. A3 in the bridge fills in the eq, makes it sound more vintagey, but drops the output and doesn't sound very chewy even though it does in the neck.

almost any bucker is going to have more output than the tele neck pup. you have a stock 59 in there now? i think the a3 swap will push things in the right direction

I'm not searching for a perfect balance, just enough to get rid of voulme jumps too huge to handle, with the JB I remember they where pretty big

they are all hotter than a Tele neck. even a regular vintage output tele bridge overpowers the neck. if that jump is too huge only you can tell.

Raise the neck pup closer to the strings and lower your bridge pup to help compensate for output differences. Adjust poles and EQ to help tonal balance. An A3 mag would help get rid of the highs.

Hi , update on this subject

I finally mounted the A3 in the 59n in bridge position , I'd say it's a success.

Although there's a difference in volume between the two pickups , it's not that big, and the pickup sound now is somehow in the legacy of a Telecaster type, there's a peak on the mid high and the bass are a bit back, think a muscular rounder louder Broadcaster, and it's even noiseless, very very usable.

BTW, for pure fun a cranked my Marshall and, surprise, it's not that far to a VH vibe, with that kind of little compression and following bloom in every note, unfortunately is not loud enough , I have to try it that way with a booster pedal, I think I can get close.

If you have spare time, give it a try, it's interesting
