A3/A5 PCn....

If you read my post elsewhere you know I’ve been working with the PCn to balance well with my C8. I liked it with 2 A5s but it was muddy and boomy. I talked about getting one under wound to 7.0k with A5s in it. Well I can’t do that right now (cash) so I decided to try the A3/A5 combo again. I liked it before when I tried it but it didn't seem balanced from one side to the other and with my strumming technique, I couldn’t live it. So this time I tilted it so the A5 was lower than the A3 and it seemed to balance better.

So I made some spacers the same size as a magnet bar except only about 1/32" or so thick, and I used one between the A3 and the baseplate and the other one between the A5 and the bobbin to stagger them and make the A3 closer to the strings than the A5. Now it seems to be more balanced from side to side and sounds great to me. I'm done.

Not only can I live with it, but I really like it a lot. It balances well with my C8 and it sounds beautiful on it’s own. Clean, Dirty, doesn’t matter. It sounds great either way.
I’m happy now.

Re: A3/A5 PCn....

Sounds like a top idea !
Thanks for sharing.

Zhang also put me onto an interesting idea which I think should have the same effect except it maybe a lot easier.
Mixing half inch magnets with 3/8th inch.
So instead of spacers you'd use a 3/8th inch A5 magnet with a half inch A3.
