AANJ neck joint on a V?

DeathALT.

So I've found a cheap Ibanez RG350 EX, and I was thinking of just pulling off all the parts to build a King V style Guitar. The only thing I'm concerned about is possible stability issues because of the AANJ and the angles of the V where it connects to the neck. Should I buy it ($125 is a great price) or should I find find a different neck?

Re: AANJ neck joint on a V?

idk about 125 for an ibanez EX anything. i mean, werent they like a buck 30 new?

You're thinking about the old "EX" series from the '90s.

The RG350EX the OP is likely referring to was made much more recently and is part of the official RG line with an EDGE III bridge, INF pickups, proper RG body and 24-fret Wizard II neck.

That's a good price, even if for parts.

Not sure what "V" body you're planning on putting it on, but I wouldn't predict any stability issues if 4 mounting holes are used. I've actually been thinking of having a Rhoads (offset-V) body made to use the AANJ. Just make sure your body accepts a 2-1/4" wide heel, which is what all the RG necks are.

I'm going to be building it myself and it will be a regular Jackson King V, with or without the smaller points of the Phil Demmel V. Other than that It's going to be standard and obviously will be cut to fit the AANJ.

Yeah, that's a good price for a '350. You can probably recoup most or all of that money by reselling the parts you don't use on your V.

So I'm guessing since there's AANJ V bodies sold on Ebay, it'll be stable. Looks like I'm gonna be starting a new project soon! I`m going to be cutting the body myself though.
