Aardvark direct pro q10 trouble

I moved my aardvark into my "newer" computer (still has win xp, what it requires) and it doesn't work.

The software seems to be working, it shows the software playback in meters, but I don't get any output from monitor nor playback outs. Mic preamps work. I get input to Aardvark manager, but trying to record with Audacity won't work, pointer just flicks at zero when recording is on.

Phantom power doesn't work either. At least the led doesn't lit up when I turn it on.

Someone mentioned in some forum that PCI in newer motherboards might not have enough power output to run Aardvark, but I haven't been able to verify this. Could that be the problen or do you have any other ideas?

Re: Aardvark direct pro q10 trouble

I have an Aardvark that is in a PC that runs an 8 core AMD CPU. It's pretty new as is the Motherboard. I have no more problems with it than I had with other PC's I previously used it with. The drivers have always been good/flaky depending on what order they are loaded when the PC is setup.

Are you running it ASIO ? Version 7.13 drivers ? What are your settings in " advanced " and Routing
Does the source select box and the sample rate underneath match ?

I'm running it ASIO and with 7.13 drivers.

I've tried Routing with numerous different setups and different input/output ports. None seem to work in breakout box except microphone amps and power indicator light. Switching the "guitar in" mode for inputs 7 and 8 didn't seem to have any effect on input level.

I'll try it tomorrow in the older computer where it did work. I just hope I didn't broke it when intalling. Looks very sturdy, but what I'm read from internet, they don't seem that reliable...

Ok. Works perfectly with that computer. But not with this actually good one...

So it's probably some kind of driver issue, or hardware isn't working together? Any IT wizards on the forum?

BTW: Older computer has ACPI disabled. I guess that might help for this too, but I'd like to avoid doing that, if there's other way to get this to work.

The drivers have always been good/flaky depending on what order they are loaded when the PC is setup.

If you've added the card to an existing PC install [OS and other software ] that may be the problem. You may need to do a clean install to get it working.
Mine worked best loading the OS then board drivers and then the Aardvark and then Video drivers and then all other software/drivers.
There's also a Creative Card in the same PC.
Doing things like turning off Lan Ports and setting your Page File [ Virtual Memory ] to a hard amount [ as opposed to let MS manage it ], turning off any auto updates and things that may interfere with the Aardvarks performance helps.

What's your M.B. and CPU ?

Intel DG45ID motherboard and Pentium Dual Core.

I think I have to try that clean install...
