About the Bogner Shiva Dirty Channel w/ Boost...

Just an ovbservation. Not certain Im right. Ive been playing the dirty channel with boost and although it sings like a Myna bird, and is really sweet and syrupy sounding , its almost as though Bogner took a 70's Big Muff pedal, and tore out the guts and put it as the boost channel.
The master volume is a lot more natural, and has a great crunch , but I would still say it sounds like a overdrive pedal. I guess most master volume amps do..but Id say my JMP master volume is the most Non Master volume sounding overdrive Ive yet heard.
As far as Non Master volume amps, my '73 Marshall Superlead has a huge girth and natural edgy bite and crunch that almost spoils me for any other amp.
Comments welcome. Its okay to be snide..I dont mind.

Re: About the Bogner Shiva Dirty Channel w/ Boost...

Well a 73 NMV amp isn't going to sound anything like the Bogner unless you turn it up..... to ear splitting volume.

I have a Shiva 1 12" EL 34 combo with Reverb. Mine is an older one. So I don't know exactly what you mean when you say dirty with boost! My footpedal has three buttons, one to switch channels, one for reverb on/off, and boost. I leave the boost on all the time so I don't think I have ever heard it with the boost off. For me the Shiva is one of the best channel switching amps I have ever played through. It has cleans reminiscent of a Twin but with a little more breakup, or at least at a lower volume. The drive is similar to a Marshall but not exactly the same. I would imagine if I hooked up a 4 12" to it, the tone would be a lot bigger. I have an old early 70's Marshall 4 12 that has 4 10" 12W celestions, but I was afraid of damaging these rare speakers so I was afraid to do it(I'm still looking for a 30W head that I can use this with). The point is the Bogner is; for what I do(blues & blues-rock) one of the best amps I could ever have. It offers may great cleans & great overdrive. I also use a TS9 that I use with the clean channel more as a boost then a overdrive so I can actually get a very clean tone(just the clean channel) a slightly over driven tone(TS9 in clean channel) a dirty tone( drive channel) & a really angry dirty channel if I turn on the TS9.

The only amp that I feel is better for my needs is my Komet! The Komet absolutely cured my need to shop for another amp. But I still do.......hahah
