About the rut....

Well yesterday I returned my Tokai strat back to normal, three singlecoils.
The trem was also returned back to normal some months back.
I grew up with a strat, I deeply rooted in that instrument.....
My Kramer and Wolfgang have the same scalelength, but their fingerboards are flatter, it helps on some aspect of the playing, but it also disconnects me from something else....my roots.
I figured out today that I need a standart strat to keep myself real, it is my base.
Hehe it made me feel abit silly today, because I have been deeply annoyed with my innotation lately....slightly off when playing for some months now, and it has driven me insane, because my ears are normally pretty good.
Then I realised that I had cut myself off from my baseinstrument...my strat.
It is a very rhythmical instrument to me, it just makes me lock into a groove right away, it is my main guitar in a manner.
So I changed it back to normal, changed all my guitars back to 0.10's again.
I put on some music that I wanted to learn.....and for the first time in a long time...no troubles!!
So maybe a baseinstrument is more important than we may think!
Mine is a beatup old 84 Tokai strat that looks like a heap of trash;)
But it plays great....and you'll get some new clips soon I guess;)
And more power to Nuntius:D

Re: About the rut....

Makes sense to me, Rid. To me, if the guitar itself does'nt feel right in your hand's forget it. Does'nt matter what pickups you have in it or what amps you're using. You should'nt have to fight the instrument itself.

Re: About the rut....

Yeah...I love both my Kramer and Wolfgang, they both have something that I dig alot.
But I need that backconnection to make it all tick....hehe it is kinda weird in some sense.
Looking at some new pics of Eddie with his new Charvel strats made it click somewhere.
Lol weird connection.

Re: About the rut....

I've got only one guitar! So far anyway. It's a strat-style Godin. It's discontinued, and from somewhere in the mid 90's. I got it used as my first electric. I asked my teacher: Should I get this used Godin I saw or a Squire. He laughed and said, go with the Godin.

Anyway... I love it... it's a great guitar. I thought as I became better and my ears got hooked to amazing tones my idols were getting with $2000+ guitars, I would get sick of it, but I love it. It's so versatile with a H-S-S p'up configuration...

The only guitar, I ever see myself wanting in the future is a nice solidbody with a neckthrough. Most likely a Carvin.

Anyway, enjoy your Strat. If it feels right, it is right.
