It's raining NGD's...but these are special..

FGN Black Limba Strat w/ the bridge pup split through my Line 6 DT5h this time. Again, very fat & full sounding..so it was'nt just 'cause of the JVM last time around. It's just an excellent sounding guitar w/ great pickups ;:bigthumb:

Another (folky) ballad...

...and the rain keeps pouring....pouring down on me :D

I folded , which was always going to happen..

Simple & elegant, plays like a dream out of the box. Flawless frets & fit & finish, Nice fat bridge single-coil & the overall tone is incredible like my other two FGN axes.. :bigthumb:

This one is a basswood S-S-S Strat. No frills whatsoever ..just a simple megalith of TONE.

Mid-paced 80's Metal w/ my Line 6 DT50 (+ 1x12 w/ a Creamback M) & the bridge pup....

Did I mention this one is insane for the squeelies :bigthumb:

Jamming over Mr.Crowley w/ the new FGN axe & the Line 6 DT50 again....

I switched it over to Class A/Triode mode which gives the tone a more "British vibe" . It's chewier & a bit more hairy...

Took out one tremolo spring (I usually only use two for Strat-type bridges ...so...) and levelled the bridge but did'nt really need to do anything more setup-wise..maybe i'll fiddle w/ pup height a bit later though it's probably not nessesary, lets see...

Needless to say the new Strat passes the all-important 'Tapping & Shred Test' w/ flying colours :bigthumb:

...Southern rock w/ some funky riffing & intertwining twin leads at the end (midldle-bridge notch position) :bigthumb:

Line 6 DT50 w/ the 3T Sunburst FGN Strat..

Neoclassical w/ the neck pup.....

This Strat is from their entry-level 'Boundary' series, but you would'nt guess that looking at the workmanship, frets/neck, hardware, pup's etc.... it's all the same stuff that's on their higher end model's...just minus the 'exotic wood' tops.

And yeah, it sounds/plays pretty nicely too :bigthumb:

And the neck-middle notch position w/ the Laney aagain. Though I used the Rhythm channel for the solo this time. It's a bit more Marshall-like w/ some extra bite..

Had fun with this one.....creepy yet ultra-shreddy neoclassical track that's pretty challenging to play along to. Lots of split second instinctual changes to be made & lots of dark, unexpected twists and turns. Love tracks like this for jamming along to :bigthumb:

And more w/the neck pup & The Ironheart on the lead channel..probably my fave tone for the shredding neoclassicalz with this sweet axe so far :bigthumb:

This an excellent axe for just plain balls-out shred ala Yngwie that totally lacks any "tasteful restraint" (which I hate) :bigthumb:

Not going to lie.... I like this SSS axe better for the shreddier stuff than my YJM Strat which was 4 times the price (used). I just have'nt really gelled with the scalloped neck, especially when I'm tapping & that's why I wanted a really nice traditional SSS Strat which is what this FGN 3T Strat is...the only break from tradition being the basswood body & 2-point tremolo bridge both of which make for a nice change imo.

Basswood gives it a warm fat sound that lacks the honky-ness/tinny-ness/over-brightness/sharpness one often hears from Strat bridge pups (single coils)

The pickups are again exceptionally good, slightly warmer/darker than my YJM Strat with slightly less chirp/pick attack for a rounder fatter & a bit more musical high end. The mids are also more than adequate without being harsh at all and always cut through nicely..

It's just an overall more "musical" sounding axe for shred though that might also have something to do with the YJM's brass nut vs. the bone nut the FGN has...

End of the day the YJM is no slouch either & perhaps sounds better for clean/ambient (yet also shreddy) stuff like this... with it's edgier, slightly sharper/more defined tone..

But then these days I steer clear of anything remotely clean (:lmao:).....so the FGN is perfect :bigthumb:

Also if you're wanting to mimic Yngwie's shred tone more accurately. The YJM delivers.

Tbh I've always been more of a fan of Yngwie's playing than his tone which is brighter /shriller than the kind of tones I usually go for....& unlike Yngwie I prefer my guitar to sound like a guitar not a violin. :laugh2:

But over the years I've come to appreciate his tone a lot more as well :bigthumb:

Still I could'nt be happier with FGN as a brand..

All three of my FGM axes have turned out to be absolutely awesome Shred machines :D

Sounds f'n incredible w/ my JVM :bigthumb:

Same track as the one above but w/ intertwining twin leads in the middle for a bit more variation...

Had my Dime Crybaby in front but w/ the wah effect turned way down ...so all it did was add a sweet vowelly sound to the lead tone...

Less is less, more is more.

FGN S-S-S Strat w/ my JVM & EHX Cock Fight wah pedal (on the wah setting with the wah turned up) :bigthumb:

Raunchy, noisy, groovy blues-rock jam..

Giving some sweetass tasteful restraint a go w/ the bridge pup...

JVM OD-2 Orange Mode...aka as sweet a lead tone as you will get. It inspired me to tastefully restrain myself almost right to the end :bigthumb:

And since I'm on a tasteful restraint kick..gonna milk it while it lasts :lmao:

SSS Strat (neck single coil) w/ my Line 6 DT50...deeply emotional ballad (no tapping or shred).

With my Vox Night Train 50W...which unlike other Vox stuff is actually reasonably gainy...ie. enough gain to solo w/o a boost/play 80's metal etc..

It's tastefully restrained again for the most part. BUT...the whole tasteful restraint thing is already starting to wear a bit thin, if I'm to be honest.

Ya..I'm done w/ tasteful restraint..

This ones with my Laney Ironheart 120 head into my Laney Camo 4x12 w/ cheap/awesome V30 clones (Pulse PM12S's)..

I had the Ironheart dialed in completely differently on the lead channel for this one. Treble pushed (push-pull knob pulled to round out the top end), ample mids ..gain low-ish w/ the onboard boost dimed....a pretty bright raw tone, but shreddy & great for tapping, very glassy...only my pick attack/chirp was a bit excessive (happens a lot when I use 3mm Big Stubby's) ..but eh, it is what it is & tbh I kinda like it so I won't complain :bigthumb:

It's cool/fun when I go for different tones than my usual occasionally :bigthumb:

This is the first time I'm actually recording or even playing anything w/ the JVM's Crunch channel. This is the "orange" mode w/ the gain turned up ..gets nice & chewy/ratty/splattery with the single coil (bridge). It's actually a fun sound :bigthumb:

Flamenco/gypsy metal track I just found that I should also give a go w/ my other new axes...

...but for now it's the S-S-S :bigthumb:

In for a penny..

Thought I'd check it out on the clean channel too (that I also have'nt touched thus far :lmao:)

With my FGN Odyssey Black Limba Strat (Bridge humbucker) :bigthumb:

Like Al Dimeola minus the super clean notes & dexterity :lmao:

It's always nice to give things a go though....you only live once :bigthumb:

And V2 w' the clean channels 'Red Mode' & the bridge humbucker split (& my Boss CS-3 compressor in front..)
