Class D SS (Laney IRF) vs. AB Hybrid (Randall T2)...

I'm going to take the the Dualtop to band practice (in my back pocket :laugh2 this evening and see how it compares to The Laney Ironheart tube head they have there (also 60W). It's loud as hell and sounds fantastic so I think it will do rather well :bigthumb:

And The little 60W Laney Dualtop Solid state Ironheart w/ the same settings I used at band practice yesterday.....

Had the Voicing Toggle Switch set to "Dark". It was loud enough, (Pretty much had it cranked past 3 o'clock on the master) but it was comfortably loud after that. The 60W tube Ironheart head they had there was about as loud with the master @ 2 o'clock..so not a huge difference ..I'd actually expected there to be more of one..


It also did'nt get ratty or thin or sound ****ty/compressed cranked. Quite the opposite..

That's something I've noticed with most new SS amps...they don't "lose it/fall to bits" cranked like some of the older ones used to....my AMT Stonehead & Randall T2 sound killer cranked up as well..and yeah, they all move serious air through a cab :bigthumb:
