This has been completed about a month ago... I got busy afterwards so here it is.
Kit from 3g music and sound. Basswood body, maple neck with rosewood fretboard.
I wanted it much darker than it came out but I sanded the body much too fine for the stain to really get in there as needed. Still looks nice.
3-piece body, I assume most folks would end-up using solid colors but I wanted to "show" the different pieces and grain. It's supposed to be a garage-guitar and I like that.
Made the pickguard, control-cavity-plate and jack input plate from a sheet of scrap metal I had in the garage.
Made the truss-rod cover from an old piece of cymbal my former drummer left around.
The neck plate is from an old lawnmower blade thingy that was found in the toolshed. Had to work it a lot 'cause it's THICK (and effin' heavy)... I like how it came out. Notice the beveled edges I had to work and the recess for the screw-heads (huh huh).
Everything else is stock from the kit, except the pick-ups, which are duncans (alt-8 bridge, '59 neck).
The gold hardware is kinda weird with the scrap metal look but at least I sanded it to take the shine off of it.
Only bad thing I have to say about the kit: the neck-body angle isn't steep enough, therefore, the bridge has to be screwed all the way down to have the strings adjusted correctly. I made a great set-up and it plays amazingly but just a bit more and it wasn't good enough so...
Otherwise, the rosewood is really nice and the fretwork is perfect. As I was with the tele kit, the necks that come with these kits are very very nice considering the price and pretty much worth the price of the kits by themselves.
That thing is HEAVY but plays great and sounds really good. Pretty cool guitar to have around....
