ABR Bridge/Stop Bar Tailpiece repair

My Epiphone LP does not seem to want to stay in tune, no matter what I do. I checked out the stop bar and there is a 1/4 inch space between the body of the guitar and the bottom of the stop bar stud on both sides at the rear. This tells me that it's allowing the stop bar to lean forward which may be the problem. Has anyone encountered this problem, and what's the fix?

Are the bushings inserted into the body correctly?

If so, what happens when you lower the tail piece studs all the way down?

Unless the tail is actually loose, I doubt thats your problem. Check for snags in the bridge or nut and be sure you're stringing up correctly.

That's what appears to be the problem, the bushings. I can see about a 1/4 inch section of what looks like the bushing, and the tailpiece is set all the way down. Also checked the nut and bridge saddle, so snags. The next time I string it up, I'll see if there's any play in the tailpiece, that should tell me if it's backed out and is loose and needs to be tapped back down. Does one use carpenter's glue if it is a problem of the stud backing out, or is that a no-no? Thanks.
