ABSOLUTE POWER CORD. Users? oppinions?

I was checking out some thread on THE GEAR PAGE and wondered if anyone has tried THE ABSOLUTE POWER CORD? I wondered if power cords made a difference in supply of correct power to your amp and some say it does. Any input? I already use a Furman AR1215 and Power factor pro and love them but what about the actual power cord to your amp? I know I am splitting hairs but I am so happy with everything else in my rig that I am running out of things to improve upon LOL.

You mean the real power cord not the speaker cable right? Doesn't matter a thing as long as it's built to correct specs...

Re: ABSOLUTE POWER CORD. Users? oppinions?

This stuff is way up there on the BS scale with cryogenic treated pickups and all the rest of the high-end audio psychosis...If you really had a lot of disposable income, you'd be better off investing in a independent regulated power source...

Re: ABSOLUTE POWER CORD. Users? oppinions?

I could see it being a problem with an older amp that comes with a "bare minimum" cable that suffers from lots of loss, but on modern amps and power cables built to modern specs.....

.....besides, I doubt you hear the difference anyway. I know my house varies by as much as +/-2vac at times and IMO that would make a bigger difference to the tone than a couple of milli-watts of current.

But, if you really want that power cable you should also get the $120US wooden tone pot knobs that don't interfere with the sensitive electrical fields that exist in your amp the way that metal and/or cheap plastic ones do.

I wondered about it being BS . Probably but I do know that speaker cables etc. make obvious differences. I know its splitting hairs so I had to ask. I was gonna get those wooden knobs too but the darn splinters kep gittin in ma fangers.

Something to think about… The best power cable in the world is still plugged into a cheap plastic outlet that is wired with standard grade Romex.

The same logic would have you believe that you can connect a fire hose to a garden faucet and somehow increase the flow rate.

Re: ABSOLUTE POWER CORD. Users? oppinions?

Well, on my amps, that cheap plastic socket is actually pretty well made. 3 large prongs that insert into the power cord. I'm guessing the gauge of the wire leading from that socket to the rest of the amp is about the same size gauge of most of the common cords.

I think, in my case, it's a question of length and sufficient gauge. As long as I've got both factors covered, everyone is happy.

(hmmm.... that just came out wrong, didn't it...)

With speaker & guitar cables, this is a total different thing. Even speaker & guitar cables have completely different things that are important for them.
In a guitar cable, you transport severalfrequencies and want them to come out just like you put them in, in electricity cables, you only have the current running at 1 frequency and also, you have about unlimited of it, so if a bit of current gets lost in your cable, your amp won't care.

I am talking about your typical wall outlet.
The best power cord in the world will not correct for the cheap-ass wiring between your wall and the power grid.

...I always gig with my own generator.
