Aceman's Acoustic Pedal Board - First Build!

Aceman

I am your doctor of love!
Okay - so here is my thread to document the creation of my first pedal board. Of all things, it is for my solo acoustic stylings.

So here we go!

First, the participants:

IMG_0076.jpg

Planet Waves Tuner - From evan at user group day. For tuning and muting.
Boss CS-3 with Monte Allums Mod - Smoothing out the signal, used primarily for compression, not sustain.
Zoom A2 Acoustic Pedal - While able to be programmed, and I intend to do that, I use mainly the MArtin D-28, Gibson J-45 and a 12 String model. It has a load of fx and stuff, but they are a bonus. I'll get around to really tweaking some patches one of these days (Like for a phaser on Lightining Strikes by Live)
Digitech CF-7 Chorus Factory - Because it is handy for chorus. Usually set to the TC model. Nice for differentiating from another guitarist without chorus.
Boss DD-3 - I like this for the pristibne clear echo. I use it for a medium delay, on stuff like Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi.
Aphex Exciter - Got it from a known Sax player off the bay. Adds back all the mojo lost from the chain and just makes the whole sound 'pop'

Here are the boards I'm using. Big one is the base, smaller is the top tier, and the little guys will be spacers.

This is the arrangement. Back row is top tier. I have space for a couple more on the top. They would be items between the Zoom and the Exciter. For example, I'm always on the prowl for a loop station. I might add an A/B so I can keep the six and twelve both plugged in. Whatever...

Path is: Guitar > Tuner > Compressor > Modeller > Chorus > Delay > Exciter > Amp/Board

Anyway - I'll be adding pics and photos as this develops. Next up is figuring out how to do the power strip/power (pretty sure I got that). Next will be saw/build. Then finishing and attaching!

I got some drawer liner from lowes and it doesn't let the pedals slide.Pedal board 004.jpgPedal board 002.jpg

Needs more Halfording.

I just get Velcro usually. The pedaltrains all come with it, so that's how I attach pedals anymore.

Re: Aceman's Acoustic Pedal Board - First Build!

I actually got Velcro. Thought I'd go with double stripes.

I love the Halford Board. Makes me want to get a Dean Acoustic V and play Scorpion songs! :headbang:

It isn't much different from my acoustic board. Mine has a DL4 on it for looping though.

You realize that Halford is in Judas Priest, right?

Hey Aceman,

I am doing the same thing except mine will do double duty as both acoustic and electric. Will be using two loop controllers for this project. A pigtronix Keymaster will server the Acoustic side and a Tonebone Loopbone will be used on the darker side (electric).

I like your setup on the acoustic but I do have a concern. Using compression up-front and then the exciter as your exit point for the signal may be ..... shall we say .... like subtracting then adding back.... I don't know.. My understanding of the exciter is that it also uses compression. Try adding the exciter up in front with out the boss and see what happens. Just a thought.

Anyway, I will also post pics as I bring this project to reality.

Re: Aceman's Acoustic Pedal Board - First Build!

Great point briggleman. However - the exciter uses more than 'just compression'

The Monte Allums up front is to fix my picking/strumming dynamics (or lack thereof). The acoustic exciter on the back end is to juice the Bass and Treble after all the crap.

If you listen to it with exh on/off, there is a distinct difference - and both make it better!

It's really more of a subtract bad stuff, then add back good stuff that was inadvertently sacrificed to eliminate bad stuff when in this order and position.
