Acoustic pickup buzz

I've developed a buzz somehow on my Guild acoustic that has a fishman pup installed. I go through a radial DI that has a ground lift but the buzz does not go away completely. We play many small bars locally and this is a problem that has developed over time with this particular guitar. I'm debating taking out the pickup and checking the solder joints but just wanted some other opinions on this topic. Thanks.

Re: Acoustic pickup buzz

it depends what you mean by buzz. if the pup is under saddle transducers then one of them could be loose. if its more of a strat single coil buzz then i dont really know whats up.

It's an under saddle transducer type of pup. It's a persistant low level hum that happens in a few places. I've been noticing it a lot more lately. I'll have to check it out.

Be very careful with soldering this design. The jack pin is where most of the wires are connected. Inside the jack is a very small PC board. If you overheat the board its fried. you might be better off taking it to a Fishman dealer.

Sounds like I should try it and if I fry it, just buy a new pickup. A fishman dealer would probably charge me 100.00 anyway. Thanks for the info on the pc board.
