Acoustic Soundhole Pickups.

Hey all.

I was wondering if you guys could recommend me a quality soundhole pickup for an old MIJ Alvarez 000 style guitar. It has a solid spruce top with solid mahogany back and sides.

I'm currently leanin towards getting a LR Baggs unit. A couple of months ago I attended a clinic that had Greg Bennet teaching. He had one in his Martin and it sounded fantastic.

I was also browsing around and I came across an EMG unit that piqued my interest. I'm also considering the Fishman Rare Earth Blend, the Mag Mic, and, for simplicity's sake, the Acoustic Tube (though I'm not wild about its output).

Oh, BTW, I'll be plugging into either a SWR California Blonde or a Strawberry Blonde.

Thanks a bunch guys.

Yes I'm biased. But I've heard all those pickups you've mentioned and not one of them comes close to the Mag Mic.

Re: Acoustic Soundhole Pickups.

I used to have a Dean Markley soundhole humbucker. It sounded pretty awesome, but it eventually stopped working, and now I don't know where it is.

I'll have to say go with the Mag Mic...

I'm sure other units are very good too ( I heard very nice reviews of Sunrise units too by the way). But the Mag Mic is what I use for live performances in my Taylor and it just sounds fantastic... I just had another gig last week, and it couldn't have sounded better, I'm always impressed every time...

I know we're on a Duncan forum and all but still, it really is a great pick-up.
