Acoustics In Some Weird D Tuning That I Came Up With

Re: Acoustics In Some Weird D Tuning That I Came Up With

Love it. A haunting melody- kind of reminds me of Alan Jackson a littel.. I listened to it 4 times..hell, might listen to it some more later.

Thanks, I appreciate that, Jer, but I hear nothing at all that sounds like Alan Jackson. Maybe you know another Alan Jackson?

Nice... makes me want to get my 12-string out! What was the tuning you were using?

I was getting a Jimmy Page vibe.

Sounds good. I've always liked alternate tunings, especially on acoustic.

Tune to DADGAD. That's the Jimmy Page tuning, as well as celtic music. You'll get a lot of ideas and inspiration with that tuning. Your first finger on the G at the second fret makes it an open chord, so a whole lot of voicings pivot around that.

Sounds great! Love experimenting with weird open turnings. Forces you to break out of habits and use your ears a bit more.

If you want to be inspired by weird tuning just go pop on some Joni Mitchell.

Very cool Jolly! Wait until about 3-4 months from now when Thane has my Guild 12 String finishes and you can see how it sounds on it when I'm passing through on the way home from Nashville!

Me likey very much. It sounds so crisp and stereo separated. I hear a lot of Zep in there.

Yeah, I tune to DADGAD all the time. I have a song in DGCGCD that I'll be posting soon too that's very Zep inspired. New tunings really open the door to creativity.

And Bert Jansch is awesome.
