Active Midboost Electronics with Antiquity Singles?

I was wondering about the midboost electronics in the Fender Clapton strat.
They obviously work with the Lace Sensors, but would they expand the output and tone of vintage style pickups like Antiquity Surfers?

Re: Active Midboost Electronics with Antiquity Singles?

You can use the Fender mid-boost kit with any type of pickup, although I imagine it's geared more towards single coils than humbuckers. Kinman pickups work really well with the system, at least according to him. I don't see why Duncans wouldn't sound good. The only thing I'm not sure of is how much (if at all) it would affect the hum from the pickups. That system is capable of 25 dB of midrange boost, you probably wouldn't want to turn it up too much. Kent_S sent me a schematic and diagram to build your own, since Fender no longer makes them. You can usually find them on Ebay though.

Thanks for the info. I might hit you up for that schematic later. I'd love to retain the vintage sound, but be able to push the amp harder with that passive pickup set.

Re: Active Midboost Electronics with Antiquity Singles?

It will work fine. I you can use EMG midboosts with anything also.
