Active pick-up suggestion

Re: Active pick-up suggestion

The 60A would be "jazzier" with the alnico magnet compared to the 60 which can be very dry.

Just my $0.02!

I've never thought of the 60 as dry but then again I've never heard the 60A either....I'd like to try it sometime.

I do know the 60 SLAYS as a neck pickup in my Les Paul....probably the best neck pickup I've ever played and the most versatile as well.

Also new to Actives...

Does the EMG 60 have the flexibility for other styles than metal. Classic rock? Blues?

In the neck?? Definitely. I actually think it excels at cleans/blues and rock actually.

Re: Active pick-up suggestion

I have an SG that I have been think of switching to active PU's. I would be looking for classic sound and something that is versatile. I LOVE playing metal for my own amusement but almost never play it live. Recommendations?
