Adapting NIN's "Hand that Feeds" Synth Solo for guitar

Hey guys, I'm starting a cover band with a buddy of mine and one of the first songs we're tackling is NIN's "The Hand That Feeds".

I've got the guitar parts down and he's got the bass parts down but the only problem is we don't have a keyboard player. We plan to get one, but until then, I may have to adapt some of these keyboard parts to the guitar.

The Synth solo on this song uses the pitch shifting ability on a keyboard and I figure I can replicate this with my Digitech Whammy pedal but I'm not quite sure where to start.

Do I find the keyboard note and then the corresponding guitar note and just connect the dots? (notes?) Is the note shifting up an octave or down an octave? Which note would I adapt to shift up or down? Where would I know which part of the neck to place the solo in?

I'm sorta confused about how exactly to adapt a keyboard part, so just help me out a little please. Thanks guys!

if you have an octave just play the root and the octave - kinda like a power cord but without the 5th!

btw NIN covers rock.
