Of course the Gibson is better. It has four pickups while the Squier only has three. :banghead:

:blackeye:

When I was gonna buy my first guitar, it was either a squier strat or tele, and the strat had more "things" on it so I got that instead...

Only played strats since :laugh2:

Wonder what woulda happened if I got the tele? :scratchch

"get a gibson les paul custom..." CLEARLY a main competitor for this model...

I was shoping for squier bullets, and i noticed a gibson les paul custom lying in the corner that was in a similar $50-$4000 price range and is a guitar that should reasonably be compared to a squier bullet, since they both have necks and pickups and such. Both of these guitars are in my range, since my playing is somewhere between that of a chimpanzee and jimmy page. When compared side by side, the gibson les paul custom won by a hair. Oh wait a minute... THAT NEVER HAPPENED
WHO COMPARES AN 80 DOLLAR GUITAR TO A GUITAR THAT COSTS THOUSANDS?!?! Im glad people post things like this. It makes my life sightly less dreary
:haha:

Reviews are kind of like the Olympics....you have to throw out the high and low scores.

After that you need to look at who is playing what and for how long. The HC database is a great resource once you get your "Idiot Filter" working right.
:haha:

Sooo SOOOO great guys! I have to agree that 4 pups makes the LP Custom win.

As far as idiot filters go......I have to reset mine everytime I go to HC. Guess I have to remember everybody is a professional there. :smack:

They'd work well for that. They're really quite servicable, I think, but the overall feeling of cheapness is undeniable. That feeling doesn't seem to translate into unreliability, though, as I never saw any absolute lemons come through back when I was selling them and never noticed any particular flood of Bullet repairs. I always had concerns about the truss rods, though. My Fender rep once referred to them as being made of "pot metal." I don't know if he meant that literally or simply meant that they were made from a cheaper grade than other series, but it always made me a bit weary. But like I said, I never really saw any influx of Bullets with warped necks or anything, so I can't imagine the issue is all that bad.

I used to do repair orders and return requests for an area GC a while back. I am surprised I didn't see more come through with bad necks either. They are kind of "disposable guitars" anyway. It wouldn't take much to total it at $80. Anything under $50 in cost Fender had us throw out anyway. We started a policy to throw out the truss rod keys to prevent cutomers for destroying their guitars. We saw a drastic reduction in returns with bad necks. Go figure.

pay attention to background:

"Background: Lickmaster General (Expert)
Style of Music: Rock and Roll
Aug 29, 2004 - this guitar buzzes more than a beehive. I had to tune on a daily basis. I own a couple of Fenders and Squiers and have had an excellent experience with them, but this guitar has soiled the good Squier/Fender name. You might as well throw away the money, cause that's what you're doing by purchasing this 'guitar'. I shot this bullet straight into the trash."

"Style of Music: rock,emo,hardcore,softcore,....rap???? jk
Nov 30, 2004 - its ok for a starting guitar but my first ones neck was warped so i returned it to the store i bought it from and the one i have right now is in worse condition, nobs are sticky, tone is horrible, the tremolo bar is stripped, and its just horrible...i only recomend this if you get the package and if your a beginner"

It's good enough for the lickmaster general and you can play softcore and rap on it

Re: Add these to the list of reasons it's a bad idea to put faith in user reviews

"vibrates a little when you play because the neck is cheap"

I'm not sure, but I think that this one is attributing body vibration (a good thing, last time I checked) to a cheap neck. Figure that logic out.

Re: Add these to the list of reasons it's a bad idea to put faith in user reviews

I couldn't help but notice that all the people that posted positive reviews: It was their first guitar. Or their buddy has one. wtf?!? I'm going to post a review on an original white penguin. "I've never played it, but there was this guy, who knew this dude's sister, who went out with the guitarist from slipknot. He didn't have one, either, but he knows..............."

The biggest problem with these reviews, is that they've never played or messed with anything better. Back when I had my Epiphone "Strat," I thought, "why would anyone pay thousands of dollars for some of those guitars? This one is just as good." Once I really got serious about playing, I did a 180. These guys need to go to a REAL music store and pick up a REAL guitar after they have learned to play a little.

The comment about the LP Custom had a little merit, but how can you compare them? It's like saying, "these Ford Pinto's suck. Go out and buy you a Lamborghini." Yeah, we can ALL do that. Funny thing is, he probably doesn't have a LP himself.

Oh yea, jimi hendrix frequents the musicians friend website: (8 down)
"jimi hendrix
Experience: I own it
Background: i play alot
Style of Music: rock, slight emo, senses fail, that stuff
Nov 22, 2004 - this guitar is for the first year or two that u play. the featurs are alright, but the tone nobes have NO EFFECT on antything, the quality is alright, its made fine, light, personally its not my style, the strings ring more than a telephone. i prefer buying the pack, then ditchin gthe guitar for a aria pe-dlx, thats quite the guitar, quite the bargain. So yeah the values good cause its cheap but I really would save up for an extra month and get a real descent guitar"

-right, jimi played emo, and played an aria......right.....

hey, i thought it was funny

Re: Add these to the list of reasons it's a bad idea to put faith in user reviews

These people make me laugh. How classic can it be!!!

Hey D!ck, I didn't know that dude in slipknot, that one who plays guitar, who's sister, is the man's wife's cousins friend played Gretches. I just though it was The SINGER'S sister's cousin's wife's brother's friend who's brother-in-law's friend-in-laws..... :laugh2:
