Adding jack inputs in a combo for connecting pedals, possible?

I'm not much of an expert when it comes to amps, so I ask here.

I want to buy a reverb pedal and I have a marshall MGCF combo. The thing is I kinda like the distortion it has, and since I want the reverb pedal after the distortion I was thinking about adding 2 jack inputs, one that cuts the signal after the preamp section and other that takes it to the speaker for adding the pedals like "in between".

I'm just speculating since I don't have idea if this is even possible or if there is a better way to do it, etc. Any suggestions?

You mean an effects loop?

That would add effects between the preamp and power section.

Your MGCF doesn't have an effects loop... but I suggest just running the reverb straight into the amp (since that's all you can do with it). You might do just fine with that.

That's exactly what I want. I think I didn't mention that I am actually willing to dig into the electronics and mod them, drill the holes for the jacks and stuff.

I don't think it's worth the effort since there are so many amps out there with effects loops.

For a practice amp, the Randall RD1 immediately comes to mind. My little Marshall DSL1 has an effects loop.

Start looking at the backs of amps (or photos of them) and/or just Google for amps with effects loops.

This thread is basically the conversation we're having, just in more detail: http://www.thegearpage.net/board/in...-an-fx-loop-into-a-small-marshall-mg.1298085/

Thanks, I'll definitely give that amp a look, if I can find one. The thread is exactly what I was looking for, but didn't have the words!! Thanks again!

Not as simple as just drilling holes and adding jacks. I would recommend that you move to a new amp.

I put one of these into a JCA20H. It was not easy. If I had it to go back and do over again, I'd probably just sell the amp and get one with a second channel and an effects loop built in. That being said, I love that little amp, and it can roar with the big boys.
