ADJUSTING POLE SCREWS on my c-5

The low end of my c-5(in carvin sc90) is kinda Spongy(I want it Crisp & crunchy)---I raised the pickup w/no effect--I loosened the bottom 3 pole-screws about 3 turns & NOW the bottom end is more Crisp(more Crunch)...Is this possible or just my imagination??

I left the upper 3 screws alone cause the Leads sound great. It's the Bottom end that needed work.

Yes that is possible, the pole are for adjusting the volume, but as a result the higher you go the more trebly or crunch in your terms increases till a certain pt then it just muddy from there. Lower the poles my make the sound clear and more mellow I would say.

Thanks man-----Yer right about loosening the screw too much ya get mud(I was wonderin why that happened, the muddiness, that is)--

I'm glad you confirmed it actually works--to loosen the pole screws gives me more Volume.....Or more clearness.

I never knew about adjusting the pole screws...

Re: ADJUSTING POLE SCREWS on my c-5

If you "lower" the pole screws will the sound eventually get more muddy .......after getting mellow?

I'd rather not try until someone comments on this.

Thanks

Dave

Yeah if you lower the screws it will sound clearer, but the volume with decreasing resulting with less crunch.

I have them that high that the whole head of the screw looks of the bobbin...
butnut gave me the tip and it's from Seymours Q/A IIRC. Dunno if other pubs than the JB benefit from this...
