adjusting poles on a full shred (allen screws)

Re: adjusting poles on a full shred (allen screws)

Here's what I do to my double screw buckers:

-Fret Low E @ highest fret and raise/lower pup until pole furthest from bridge is 1/16 from bottom of string.

-Fret High E @ highest fret and raise/lower pup until pole furthest from bridge is 1/16 from bottom of string.

-Go back to low E, fret at highest fret, and raise pole closest to bridge until pole is 1/16 from bottom of string.

-Go back to high E, fret at highest fret, and raise pole closest to bridge until pole is 1/16 from bottom of string.

Do the same for the middle eight screws.

With a name like FULL SHRED, you need them as close as you can get.

Seriously, there is an opportunity to sort of tune the tone. If you lower the screw under a string on one coil and raise it on the other, it should slightly effect the tone and be different than having both screws set at the same hight. Sort of like mismatched coils. The screws in the coil closer to the bridge should have more treble and the screws in the coil away from the bridge more bass. Whether you can hear this or not, especially with distortion, I'm not sure. :dunno:
