It's crazy how young he still looks. Also, his fingernails look like a woman's nails which is a bit odd to me.

All Flamenco/Classical guitarists have fingernails like that. It would drive me crazy, couldn't do it.

In classical guitar, the flesh of the finger is the volume and the amount of nail applied is the tone. You change pressure for volume and roll your finger slightly to get more or less of the nail on the string to change the tone. That’s how classical, when it’s done right, sounds like at least two guitarists playing.

I had a red & white Vandenberg, nice guitars, ebony FB but kinda one trick ponies. I grew bored of them after a while and sold them.

I use to run across Vandys from time to time at good prices but never liked the Kahler Floyds. Only thing that kept me from ever snagging one.

I wonder if it was the same model that came on the early Washburn N4s? Pretty much a Floyd copy.

I think half of it was just the marketing advertising stylist and producing people poking a tentative foot outside the closet though?
No longer terrified of showing any hint, but also nobody speaking out "too much" on account of the still-unspoken secret part of "open secret"?
Then the new millenium rolled around, the artsy professions marched out and proud... and boom, once management felt comfortable mentioning the elephant in the room, new word of the day was "bit much", and the undertones got relegated to Calvin Klein ads and Macy's catalogs, while everybody else went back to suits or polos or hoodies.
