Adrien Smith bridge humbucker - Seymour Duncan?

Re: Adrien Smith bridge humbucker - Seymour Duncan?

That jackson does seem to be made to look like his old Ibanez destroyer, which would have predated Collen's by a couple of years.
Some nice vid shots, it sounds pretty good.
Last time I saw Maiden was '88, I really should go watch them again sometime, they do seem to still cut the mustard live, Bruce and Nikko are just amazing considering their ages and the physical work they put into each show.

You should definitely go. I've seen them on every tour except three since 2000.

Phil Collen had Jackson make him a version of this Destroyer not too long ago.

Adrian started using the Destroyer on The Number of the Beast. 1982.

Number of the Beast and the one with The Trooper (next one after Num of B) were my fav Maiden discs..

Tis a great album, although I'm pretty sure he'd been using the destroyer for a while by the time they recorded, I think the Maiden Japan live ep is mostly Ibanez, and I think he'd been using another explorer type guitar on the killers album, you can see it on the back cover, but I never could find out what it was.
I once owned a Destroyer II, but the bolt on neck version (I'm pretty sure Adrian's was glued in).
There's some videos of them doing a gig at Hamersmith on the beast on the road tour where they're both using the beastie, but Dave's is a sunburst :)

Adrians Destroyer indeed had a set neck, which was a "Japan only" feature. He picked it up on the Killers tour, used it on Madan Japan and used it exclusively for the The Number Of The Beast recording with stock pickups.
Dave had a sunburst model, but I'm not sure if he used it on TNOTB album.

Would be cool to see Ibanez do a reissue of that particular setup and colour. I let an original pass me by a couple of years ago :banghead::banghead:

Thanks for the tip. The black one looks pretty cool. Wonder what would be the modern equavalent of those 80's Super-58 and V2 pickups.
The one that got away was an actual DT-300 Destroyer from '82 for Japanese domestic sale only. Red finish and all original. Guy wanted 900 bucks for it, which I thought was a little steep. Ah well...

I was thinking of Live at the Rainbow where H uses his LP the whole show.
