advantages of a 2x12 over a 1x12?

Re: advantages of a 2x12 over a 1x12?

Also the bigger the speakers used the more bass. If you want alot of bass go for 15" or 12" speakers. Small speakers project more treble.

Oh, and also . . .

. . . what works 'best', a 2x15 open back or 2x15 closed back, and why ?

...can you "re-build" 18inch PA speakers into a guitar cab and get any good sound out of 'em ?

I mean, will this work :

Guitar > fx > amp head > 4x12 cab & 2x18 cab

Has it been done before or did i just come across a new format/idea ?

I'm sure it's possible but the bass response would probably be so overwhelming and loose that it wouldn't have any real-world application for a guitarist, unless that is you play drone/doom metal. Carting around two 18" drivers in the same box wouldn't be very fun either.

The lower speaker box for Dimebag Darrells signature Randall Warhead full-stack comprised of two 15" speakers to handle the lower-chunk of his sound. I can't really think of too many other guitarists who have used speakers greater than the standard 12" config. Anything bigger and you risk your sound loosing it's crispness and muddying up all over the place.

The open back gives you more sound dispersion, the closed back will have more bass and "thump".

Mmmm, gotta try some closed backs then !

Wonder how my little AC15 (w. Greenback) into a 2x15 closed back cab will sound :D

Oh yeah, when's the last time you played through a Behringer 4x12 :D

hehe, never ever :)
a friend of mine, who i gig with sometimes has a marshall 412.
while playin his gibby he produces an unnatural amount of bass.
i had the same experience with the buddies in my previous band playin engl 412s

huge 112 or 212 with 3/4-back are what my dreams are made of. btw i love
the gov, legend gb12 and texas heat drivers.
