Advice on an Epiphone

Re: Advice on an Epiphone

If it is a JV (Japan Vintage) strat than it's most likely not an even trade. Though if it's indeed a Jimmie Vaughan strat than I'd just ask yourself which one you would prefer to play more...

Re: Advice on an Epiphone

What epi is it? The jimmy Vaughn strat is a nice classic Mexican strat

JV = Jimmie Vaughan, Stevie Ray's brother.

That makes sense, I was coming up with Japan Vintage

Re: Advice on an Epiphone

It's a Japanese Vintage - this one, second one down.

I don't know which Epi you're being offered (since I can't see your linked post/thread), but in general a JV Squier Strat is worth a bit more and is MUCH harder to find. We might be able to offer better advice with more details, but my initial thought is that you should ask for a bit extra from their side even if you don't play the Strat much.

Re: Advice on an Epiphone

The Epi has had quite a few mods. Here's the text of the ad:

Heavily upgraded Epi Les Paul from the mid naughties.

Great condition, with the following upgrades:

Earvana Nut
Black Dog bridge Pup
Stormy Monday Neck
Guts of guitar have been sprayed with special coating that is supposed to reduce unwanted feedback/squealing
Completely re-wired
Four Push Pulls wired to the Jimmy Page schematic below:

My Strat has a Bare Knuckle bridge pup and I've lost the original and I've lost the trem arm. So the collectors aren't interested.

Does that sound more like an equal trade ?
