Advice on Pickups

New guy here looking for some help. I'm currently playing a Carvin guitar with a floyd. It's a neck through with alder body sides and a maple/walnut neck with and ebony board. It's going into a Carvin Quad-X pre amp.

I'm looking for something versitile, but I lean more towards metal sounds. Actually, if I were to pick one players tone that I am truely into, it would be Nuno Bettencourt. I can't get enough of his tone off the Pornograffitti album. It's a good chunky tone, but it's still really clear with nice harmonics. I know he was using a Lawrence L-500L and a 59, but I really don't feel like waiting for a Lawrence.

I hoping you guys can help me with some suggestions.

Thanks

TB-4...not the chunkiest thing in the world, but definetely the most versatile I've come across. Super clarity and smoothness is why I love it so much. Great singing upper mids that cut and ring like nothing I've ever heard. Yet, it can still handle a wide variety of metal. One of my favorite pickups out there.

The only thing that may turn you off from it would be it's brightness and with the alder body and ebony board, it will be noticeable. Now, you be the judge if that's a good thing or a bad thing!

Re: Advice on Pickups

i can not recommend a jb or tb4 (which is a jb in a trembucker version for your floyd) i think with a maple neck through and ebony board it would be shrill. i would be looking for something with alnico 2 magnets that comes in a trembucker version.
