Need bridge pickup advice...

I did remove the poles like that in a terrible sounding neck humbucker before. It worked. I think ill try that. Wouldn't removing the 3 poles closest to the neck on the wound strings be better for removing some mud?
The choice is yours. :-)

So wiring in a .047 capacitor like this wouldn't help?

A regular 47nF (.047µ) cap is too high to give a satisfying low cut / hi pass effect. Try 10nF (.01µ) or below. Rickenbacker mounted 4.7nF (0.0047µ) caps for that. Reverend Guitars used/uses 2.2nF (0.0022µ). And again, if you do that, wire the normal low pass / hi cut tone pot BEFORE the series cap if you want these filters to cooperate nicely with each others. G&L did it right in the PTB circuit when it comes to the order of components (but did put the bass cut filter on a 1M pot to make it variable):

I don't know what is vintage gain Doom metal? Is that like Iommi / Black Sabbath? Idk what they used but probably Super Distortion was in the mix at some point. Sorry I can't help.

The cool thing about buying pickups new is that they have an exchange policy so you can experiment with your first pick and then fall back to something you know you like.

Exactly this sound. The guy with the goldtop always uses Super Distortion P90s in both positions. World ending Doom. Slightly heavier than Sabbath, but still vintage. A killer sound. The thing about the TZ is that its used and given to me by a friend. So I'm attempting to make it work in the neck position. Don't want a average humbucker pickup in my bridge. Already bought a Tone rider P90 for that.

Super Distortion is the answer then! I bet a P90 Super Distortion sounds almost like a regular one.

Yeah, but I'm not buying a new pickup for the guitar. Its a $200 copy. I just got the TZ for free. So I'm using a Tonerider P90 for the bridge, and if the TZ won't work in the neck then I'll get an inexpensive artec for the neck. I just think it has to be possible to get close to the Super D with a mod to the TZ. I can't imagine that they would sound drastically different under that much gain.

Someone here showed wiring diagram to use a capacitor in series with the hot wire that will filter off bass frequencies. You can make the TZ work if you want to.
