Hi all,
First-time poster, just installed my first set of SDs yesterday.
I have a MIM Telecaster and have replaced the generic Bridge with a Little '59 and the generic Neck with an STR-1.
Wiring seems fine, tone and volume both roll on and off and the pickups seems to switch ok (it's wired as per the diagram here). FWIW I replaced the original 0.05uF ceramic disk cap with a 0.047uF Sprague orange drop.
I set the pickup heights as per the old pickups, so around 5mm for the 'E' and 2.5mm for the 'e' on the bridge (unfretted) and 4mm/2.5mm for the Neck. Alas as I am a total newbie at doing this sort of thing I am thinking that I haven't set up the heights correctly.
What I have is humbucker-type tone on the bridge switch position, very rich vintage tele single coil tone on the neck position and what sounds very very VERY (i.e. virtually identical to the bridge where I can only discern a difference if I squint) vintage single-coil tone when both pickups are selected...so I am guessing one pickup is too high...or one is too low...or both
Any assistance or advice appreciated, and I'll make sure I do a proper intro thread.
FWIW I have another two guitars to do (my 50th birthday was very kind to me and Seymour Duncan), a MIM HSS Strat that's due for a SH-4 and two SSL-1s and a Epi SG that getting Phat Cats.
