Advise on Epiphone SG pleeeasseee

Re: Advise on Epiphone SG pleeeasseee

i love a C5/59n combo in an sg. if you want a more vintage tone in the bridge you should consider a 59 set, i loved two 59's in my sg. i know you don't want two of the same model pickup but the 59 set is very versatile. I wanted something a bit hotter after a while without changing the tone too much which is why i opted for a C5.

I like my C5/59n combo too. The whole story is that i like the c5 better than the c8 and the cuoa5. =)

It all depends on your tastes and how your rig sounds. Judging from the posts here over the last couple years, the C8 seems to have replaced the C5 in most forum member's guitars. There's also a smaller fan base for the C4 and Blueman signature UO C5. The Custom family does especially well in mahogany.

+1. Plus, you can change to a C8 bridge later if you care to.

Welcome aboard!

After trying about every combo people usually suggest, I have settled on a Gibson 498t bridge and a Duncan 59 neck. I prefer them without covers.

You owe it to yourself to try a C8 in that SG.

I dont actually own an SG any more, I didnt like the feel of it. Im coming to the conclusion the only guitars I really love playing are Les Pauls and Superstrats.
Besides, you know how hard it is for me to get magnets over here :beerchug:

Actually I don't really understand the C8 love when we're talking about blues and classic rock. The tone was fine, but in my sg it was incredibly hot. Like a heavy metal pickup. For me it didn't work well.

I'm strictly a blues and classic rock player, and think the A8 is a great bridge magnet. Warmth and muscle, just what you need for late 1960's British blues. I've got a C8 in a Sheraton (335) and an LP Std. If a C8 seems hot, lower it a little and raise the neck PU. That should balance them.
