Advise on pu choice please.

thats good to know about the distance, thank you!

my first go at a personalized git, im gonna pay a pro.

but then i will have a set of left over parts, it is indeed my intent to use them on a crappo git and see how tough it all is.... right now, it looks tough to me lol. measurements and spacing, and tension, and fret height...ugh im already starting to scare myself away lol

i was just talking about the wiring, not the whole guitar, though you could do that too. the wiring bit isnt that hard, making a neck requires much more skill

Finally! Thanks to everyone for the advise! Love the pick up and guitar!

I had to drop the pick up down quite far. Some of the clean settings on my kemper, when raised high, I could hear this like static crackle, I the background, which went away when I lowered it. Is that what people mean aboit the invader poles being high???

Anyway, love it. So full and wide and warm and heavy sounding. Thanks again!

Before and after.

Well, the Invader is a high output pickup, and most people who love it rarely use clean sounds so it isn't a problem. But your experience with the Invader overdriving the input is what happens with most high output pickups (and why people love them with gain).

this makes great sense! considering i play clean maybe about 5% of the time.

and lowering it where it is, is perfect for clean and OD. im in love with this thing. i cannot put it down

Great to hear you are digging the axe. The volume knob is your friend. Especially when playing a one pickup guitar with a high output pickup.

That guitar looks so Metal!

thank you! the guitar is so dark, looking and sounding, that i thought the pearl white pick guard might brighten it up, just a tad.

told my wife she needs to find a new bed now as i must keep my new girl warm and comfortable hahaha!

Yeah, backing the Invader down is the way. It's capable of more clarity and versatility than people give it credit for. Congrats dude.

thank you! its a big day in my household, at least to me it is! lol

i also for the first time used ernie balls magnum strings, with the 3rd string being wound, tuned to drop B. it feels so good and sounds amazing.... sorry dunlop and jim root, but these are now my go to

Wound 3rds, drop B... you're speaking my language. I have two guitars set up for this right now and one of them had an Invader in it for a while. Great sound.

im surrounded by donkeys.
