Aging Guitar Finish

Re: Aging Guitar Finish

Oh, and if you haven't done a guitar finish before, search for some tutorials or it'll be a nightmare.

I 've had some sucsess adding a touch of amber between clear coats.
You can mix some in the clear, of mist some amber on. :)

Can always pee on it. (Why do I always give that advice?) The acidity in urine I'm sure will dull the paint job if it was let to sit. I've always wanted to try this on pickup cover or something. It's just hard to build up the courage to pee on something u like.

hey Foamer, I've got a cover that I've just got lying around, I'll give it a shot (literally) tomorrow and let you know how it turns out, ok?

Re: Aging Guitar Finish

Drag it behind a truck on a gravel road. I'm not kidding (but I don't recommend this method)--my drummer did this to a guitar that he bought to "age" it. It worked...kinda. I had to do some major electronics repair and replace the tuning keys (he ripped one off on a hill), but it definitely took some paint off and made it look abused. It didn't really change the tone much, but we had a lot of fun getting drunk and torturing the guitar.

Dude, if u do that, I think u'll seriously be my hero. :D

U gotta let it steep for a couple days before we assess the results though, K.
