AHH ever have a gut feeling that you know is wrong?

ok, so i need a new amp, my fender 100 watt ss amp isnt gonna last too long and i dont like its tone much, so it would seem right to buy a new amp (MESA OR MARSHALL), so why do, all of a sudden i want a les paul? And its just not mild gas its HEAVY GAS... i have enough money for either.. but i want to make sure i get exactly what i want... i know i'll buy the amp though, it'll make my guitars sound much better... but i still want a les paul so bad... ahh.. this ever happen to you guys?

however, deffinately go with the amp. amp has more to do with the sound than the guitar by a lot. a crappy amp will sound crappy with a good guitar, but a crappy guitar will sound pretty good through a good amp.

Yeah, I'd say if you've got a pretty good guitar that you like you definitely need to get a good amp now. You can get another guitar later and then you'll have 2 to sound awesome through a good amp.

Nice choices, very nice choices . . . I had to choose between those two myself, I went with the DSL, still kinda wish I had the mesa sometimes, but it'd be the same way if I'd bought the mesa instead.

Well its not so much that for me as that I like them both so equally that its hard to pick one over the other, I got which one I thought could do both styles of my music best.

if the fender amp you have isnt gonna make it, i'd lean to the new amp ... a les paul is sweet, for sure .. but if you have NO amp, you will be making zero tone ...

well, by "isnt gonna last long" i more or less mean that i'm outgrowing it, every once adn a while it messed up, but i want a new amp because of a better tone, not really just a replacement.

I go to the guitar shop to buy strings and come back with a new axe !
I return to order an amp and come back with a new guitar !

I was at GC this Sunday and played a single rec for about 30 minutes. This was my first time to play one, by myself, for any length of time. All I can say is you have a tough choice. There are a ton of really nice sounds in the rec and a lot of options to change the voicing. It really is a super nice amp. From cleans to metal it has the spectrum covered. Sucker gets loud too. After owning a DSL for quite some time, and after playing the single rec, it would be a tough choice for sure.

Which one are you leaning towards?

I had my mind set on a good tube amp and suddenly I see a Gibson LP custom black being sold I could afford!!!
It's no fun deciding between your dream amp dream guitar...

Yeah that gut feeling of GAS sucks. I really think amps will affect your tone more than guitars do (unless you're playing a piece of crap that won't stay in tune). With that said, I love buying guitars, but whenever I buy an amp it's because I feel like I HAVE TO (need something louder, of a different style, etc.). Oh well, nobody ever said that we guitarists were the most practical folks...

Yeah, it took me about 20 years of playing until I finally got an industry grade amp.

I was only in my mid 20's and not too long out of college, but I still had a couple of good guitars, and a solid state Fender. Had never gotten around to getting a good amp.
