so i cranked my laney hard again today... :newangel:
the tone was amazing..really smooth but fat and cutting at the same time...so this is what they call powertube saturation...
it was amazing..pinch harmonics flying everywhere and fingertapping sounded so awesome...can't wait till the sd-1 gets here to give it a tad more boost(couldn't pick it up earlier)
and what's more amazing is that there is hardly any tube rattle..and i've read that class A hits those el84's hard

you know some things..the mt-2 just can't give :laugh2:
(haha now i'll be able to sell the mt-2 after the sd-1 arrives)

Re: Ahh...the beauty of tubes..

Which Laney are you using?

I had the VH100R for a while, and loved it. I just didn't need all the power. :laugh2:

Re: Ahh...the beauty of tubes..

The ideal amp, allows you to crank it. I'm happy for you, man, I'd love to be in your situation (gear-wise)
^ Haha, sorry, wasn't called for.

LC15R:D...small but mean.. :)
Haha, exactly! Congrats on good tone Benji!

I've been a LC-15 nut for over six years, and I'm buying a second one - a LC-15R like you have. I scored a good deal on a used one. It should arrive early next week. When it's here I'll start building my pedalboard! Can't wait to ruin that pure tube tone with some digital processing chemistry ;)

I'll keep my tried and true LC-15 for the occasional guitar-cord-amp night.

Re: Ahh...the beauty of tubes..

I almost got a LC15r at one point.. but i really didnt want a class A amp (especially since i couldnt get anything else after) So i recently got my VC50. I think cranking it is out of the question so far rofl. On 3 my ears hurt :(
