My amps have been in storage since moving to an apartment and have only used my pv classic 30 for last few months. yesterday I was able to play thru my Splawn QR and nearly had an eargasm.. was amazing! Too bad I wasnt able to crank it much, but was still good none the less.

I played my Traynor YBA-1 and my new Laney AOR Pro Tube Lead 50 at full volume through the 4x12 a few times since the weekend...very nice. Have to recap the Traynor and give it a tuneup. I don't care what anyone says about cranked small amps, they just don't have "it" compared to big amps. To be fair my little Gibson GA-8 actually has a better sounding overdrive than either of the big amps, but it doesn't quite get the same effect with the lower volume. I'm going to put a speaker output jack on it so I can run it into the 4x12 and see how it does.

To be fair I imagine some of it has to do with the volume of the thing... A cranked 50w is going to move more air than a 5-15w all things being equal. That being said there are some small amps that do sound bigger than their wattage rating. I know a vox ac30 sounds a lot bigger than 30w for example.
