Some folks really like it. I found it harsh, like much more ice picky than say a '59 bridge. It had some body to, but a super high end thing going on I couldn't abide in the bridge. Ditto the Breed neck in bridge position.

Do a search and you'll find that many have asked, but pretty much no one recommends it.

that's so weird, because it doesn't really have any super high end in the neck position. like, at all. I remember the full size one being super smooth in the neck position when I had one a few years ago...

Wasn't it originally supposed to be a bridge pickup but everybody liked it better in the neck?

Well, you don't notice that in the neck because in that position, that quality comes across as clarity in the highs. Just like, if you put a '59N in the bridge, you'd hear the same thing, but in the neck it is often accused of being tubby.

Yes it was a bridge Pickup and not every one liked it better in the neck. I have used them a couple times in the bridge. They work well for a bright guitar that you want a medium output and a lot of clarity in.
In particular I had a 7 string version in the bridge of my old DC 747 with a mahogany body and neck and it was really nice. Fat and smooth just lacking a little output.

since when does the air norton not go well in the bridgeposition? thats new to me. I'm gone for 2 weeks and the whole world has changed! next you'll tell me that the 59/custom hybrid sucks...
I actually like the pickup. It is a bit like the alnico 2 pro. the air technology makes the a5 softer and 'weaker', a bit like an a2. kinda. the a2pro has a bit more dirt and more dynamics, though. in the neck it's neat too. it's just a very allround set. I love 'm both in a guitar. works great for me anyway.

Isn't that one of those habits of DiMarzio thought? Using a pickup for either position? I know they pitch the Air Zone that way.
