Air Norton magnet change?

I was wondering if anyone ever tried a magnet swap in an Air Norton (for the neck position of a Strat- or any guitar)?

I was thinking an A3 might really improve the boomy bass end.

- any thoughts on the matter?

Re: Air Norton magnet change?

There's supposedly space between the A5 bar and the pole pieces, which supposedly gives it a softer or otherwise different response from having an A5 directly in contact with the pole pieces. To my ears, the Air Norton is already rather soft on the attack, but has a solid sustain and nice voicing that makes up for it, but I'd worry that a weaker bar would make it too mushy.

+1. I can't really see that process working with this pickup. If you can't find a guitar in which you like this pickup, I would suggest just selling it and trying something else. I also worry it would kill note definition.

i disagree. i think if you un-air the pup and put an a3 in there it might be awesome as a neck pup
