Sounds mid scooped by the EQ..... Anyone play one? Looking for a neck pickup with clear strong bass, no fuzzies, clear but not icepick treble, some sweetness...thinking Jazz but may Al would work too.

Clips would be tres cool, thanks!

i wish i could help with an Al D neck pup clip .. but i will tell you this, the AIIP i have in my brain moore (solid mahogany body, bolt maple neck, rosewood board) sounds exactly like you describe ... clear strong bass, no icepick, and sweet sustain

good luck

I had one and it is the most bewildering pickup I have owned? It is clean, cold, precise, and compressed with very little sustain. The bass is punchy, very little midrange and the high end is overpowering. When used clean or distorted it is just too cold and constipated. It also emphasizes the pick attack so you better have a good pick technique. Overall a very unforgiving pickup that is geared towards heavy overdrive and super technical shredding. Not a blues pickup at all. The song cassino or race with the devil would be a pretty good example.

Hm thanks gents, think I'll pass on the AlDi, sounds not what I'm lookingfor

t4d AIIP = Alnico 2 pro?

I have some clips form one of the forum members, I did lik ehow it sounded, wondering if it'll work - mahogany strat type guit with a mahogany neck - pao ferro board (hard, like maple) to give it some brightness. WHo knows about this one...I may try a jazz & A2Pro in the test axe.

A jazz neck would be very wrong for you, too bright. Either the alnico 2 pro or the seth lover

Re: Al Dimeola neck, whassit like?

Both the A2Pro & seth use Alnico 2s, I'd expect the bass to be a bit flabby, but the A2P is definately worth a shot.

yup

my experience was that the AIIP tightened up the bass in my all-mahogany/maple/rosewood strat shape hard tail ... with pao ferro, you'll be even a touch more tight, i'd suppose ...

good luck

one more vote for the alnico pro 2, the jazz would be way too bright. the alnico pro 2 should be called the jazz, since it is a lot jazzier than the real Jazz (?!?)
