I am interested in how Al got his sound back in the 70s. Im thinking of return to forever, romantic warrior. anyone got any ideas?

Re: al dimeola tone?

iirc, he used relatively low output humbuckers in a black beauty LP custom into a marshall in that period ... i think he put some dimarzios in it at one point too ... i think Dimarzio had some al dimeola sig pups that he used as well ... he switched to a PRS in the mid 80s ...

FWIW, DiMarzio makes an Al DiMeola set. They don't advertize them but they are still made.

Getting his tone is one thing, his picking technique is another LOL. Man I love DiMeola. I still warm up with Mediteranean Sundance and Fantasia Suite for picking exercises. Awesome!
