Alder VS Ash.. what's the tonal difference?

Re: Alder VS Ash.. what's the tonal difference?

The best answer that I can give you is that Alder is a warmer sounding wood, ie, it won't be quite as bright as Ash.

Ash has a very tight bottom end with and is very bright, and present, especially in the 'brilliance' end of the frequency spectrum (+5kHz)

Alder is warmer, rounder bottom, and arguably a touch darker.

Alder + bridge humbucker = great tone for heavy riffing!!
