Alesis Nanoverb-Your Opinions Wanted

Found a local dealer that has the Nanoverb. I did not have time to play it. I can get it for $60; is it worth that? If not what would you recommend?

It's a 16 bit Digital FX processor. It has 9 different verbs, 3-halls 3-rooms 3-plates.Plus chorus, flange, delay and rotary (leslie sim) It's stereo and has a jack for a external On/Off foot switch.

Looks like you ought to get it from kmcguitars and save yourself twenty bucks. I've never used a Nanoverb before but I have two MidiVerbs I use mostly for vocals and the occasional guitar processing. I bought the first one about ten years ago and used it with my rack-based rig -- I've since switched to almost entirely stomp boxes -- for the band I was in at the time. We soon discovered how useful it was for vocals and moved it from my rack to the mixer's rack. The bassist, who now does a ton of home studio recording, liked it so much he bought two for himself. Since then he's found he only needs to use one at a time and gave me the second unit, which is why I have two. (I like to run things in stereo whenever possible.)

Wow, I just wrote a book here. The short of it is if the unit's in decent condition I don't think you can go wrong, especially at $40 - $60.

I think it's a good little unit. Doesn't quite sound like real tube driven Fender style spring reverb but it's a nice unit. My buddy AJ uses one...actually he overuses one!:laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

They're a great little unit for $60 used.

They're the cheapest way to get a loud amp to be tamed down, in addition to adding reverb. Since it has a mix control, you can keep the reverb subtle. Then with the input and output knobs, you can get the signal nice and hot with the input, and lower the output, so it acts as a secondary mastervolume on your amp. You can make a halfstack more useable in a bedroom, using the nanoverb for that purpose.

That's kinda how my buddy AJ uses his. Plus, if I remember right, he can program alot of presets into it too. I just wish he'd turn the reverb down a tad sometimes! :smack: :) But as far as tone quality goes, like Gearjoneser says, it's alot of quality verb for the money.:) For $60 you couldn't go wrong.

Re: Alesis Nanoverb-Your Opinions Wanted

What I've found with my Nanoverb is that I don't really care for all the FX, but there's about 2 or 3 good reverb patches in it. I keep the reverb really subtle, but mostly take advantage of it's ability to control the overall volume of an amp. Since I mix it very subtle, if I change from reverb to another effect, you can hardly even hear it.

It works great with my Marshall Jubilee, since I can get that modded Marshall tone at levels that are equal to a practice amp......I can have the full Jubilee tone at bedroom levels. Of course, it's mostly preamp gain, but at least on that amp it's good preamp gain. If I unplug the Nanoverb, the volume jumps up as loud as Slash's stage volume!
