Alien Demons Don't Fly UFOs

Re: Alien Demons Don't Fly UFOs

Kick ass, man! Sounds vaguely like something Mark Knight would've included in Duke Nukem: Total Meltdown. I loved it.

What did you use to make this?

Aww thanks man! I have to replay Duke... Come Get some!!! :)

I used Reason for the Synth via Rewire with the Ableton live as DAW. Drums are EZ Drummer.
The Beat and other stuff was written by me.

The guitars are POD Farm 2.0 . One side Recto+ 5150, the other Recto+JCM 800.
The lead tone is Basicly the Recto-5150 with different panning and some effects.

Cheers!

That's very cool and very epic too! I have used Reason rewired before, I usually just render each individual track as a .wav file or aiff file though and put them in my sequencer that way I have more control when mixing. Just my personal taste but I think I would have had the drums bigger in the mix and the guitars back a bit. The drum part is powerful but getting a bit lost. Dig the epic style man!

Thank you very much!
I know about the drums, but somehow I preferred the bigger guitars. Have to find the balance.
I used it rewired to get the general mix in mind, than I record the tracks single Via Rewire, and master it separately if required.

Re: Alien Demons Don't Fly UFOs

^ I think it sounds better that way with Reason. One thing I've learned with synths is they take a huge frequency range up in a mix so I tend to put low cut filters on all of them at anywhere from 260hz up to 360hz. I don't do that on Bass synths though, they get a low cut or low shelving eq at 50hz.

Re: Alien Demons Don't Fly UFOs

Good tip. I tend to cut the frequencies at Wavelab, but A filter at th reasonrack is a better idea. I am too new with Reason. Only 1 week :) Need time to tweak and experiment around with it :)
BTW, the guitar is tuned AEAEAEE (7 string RG), and the lowest note is around 50Hz :)
I tried to use an electronic beat for the metal part, but couldn't come up with a good beat that would give a good result. The Drumtones on reason are cool, but not fitting this part of the song.

Re: Alien Demons Don't Fly UFOs

I see some high tech animé space show of sorts.....
One of those big story ones.....dog fights, pictures of characters, big epic shots around some sort of fleet or strange world....
Well that is what comes to my mind:)
Aside from that...loved the huge feel!

I liked the change in drum beats, listen to Evanescence for cool electronic beats that change to heavy real drums. I think Fallen their album is filled with that kind of stuff. Also if you haven't heard it take a listen to Rob Zombies American Made Music to Strip By. In particular anything Charlie Clouser touches is electronic gold.

Here's his remix on that album:

Re: Alien Demons Don't Fly UFOs

Aww, I remeber that album perfectly:) The problem begins after 120bpm at 4th notes. at 144, it is somehow not nice to my ears. it would be okay with half-time, but it kills the mood:(

Re: Alien Demons Don't Fly UFOs

Awesome work! HUGE sound.

The "ding" before the rock section made me check my iPhone for a text message. :D

That was a demon in a UFO, wrong number. ;)
Zuhauhaua. I dunno why, but I tend to add dissonant pings and other noise to my songs. It gives a certain contrast to all the melodies. It's the demon side indeed, if melodies are the angel side :)

Re: Alien Demons Don't Fly UFOs

I dig it too. Very Steve Viaish with the guitar playing and phrasing....to my ears.

Re: Alien Demons Don't Fly UFOs

Nice job!

It works, but I agree that the drums could come up a bit. The guitars do sound massive, though.

Thanx ! Yes, I will tweak the drums after recording all the other parts! The guitar is an Ibanez RG 1527 which I Scalloped, Stripped down, filled with Epoxy-Resin, Refinished, and put a Q-tuner SuperHigh-Z in.
The Tuning is AEAEAEE, and it resonates perfectly. I never-ever had any nice resonance like on this tuning before, and I change Tunings for breakfast :)

Re: Alien Demons Don't Fly UFOs

When the heavy part arrived, i bit some of my fingers off, kicked my room to pieces and set fire to my house.

in a good way.
